HS2 has announced the sixth cohort of firms chosen to join its Innovation Accelerator programme. This 20-week business support initiative is designed to help selected companies develop innovative software solutions aimed at improving the delivery of major infrastructure projects.
The Selected Firms and Their Focus Areas
The latest cohort includes six forward-thinking companies, each working on groundbreaking technologies to streamline infrastructure processes.
- BuildPrompt, Document Crunch, and Mortar: These three firms will focus on developing handover technologies. Their solutions aim to efficiently and accurately verify as-built assets against approved designs. Additionally, they will automate the traditionally manual process of document review and approval by utilising machine learning algorithms to capture and interpret diverse unstructured data, such as drawings and handwritten documents.
- Madaster: This company is developing technology to enhance the circular economy during site decommissioning. Their solution creates a ‘material passport’ that captures the value of materials, highlighting their potential for reuse in other projects.
- Simalytica and Xinaps: These firms specialise in speeding up the design process through the use of artificial intelligence. Their technologies will help optimise design and automate design generation assessments, significantly improving efficiency in infrastructure projects.
Key Benefits
- Streamlined Handover Processes: By automating document review and verification, BuildPrompt, Document Crunch, and Mortar aim to save time and reduce human error during the handover phase of infrastructure projects.
- Circular Economy Enhancement: Madaster’s material passport solution promotes sustainability by capturing the potential for material reuse, contributing to the circular economy in construction.
- Design Optimisation: Simalytica and Xinaps are set to revolutionise the design process by utilising AI to optimise designs and automate assessments, speeding up project timelines.
The HS2 Innovation Accelerator continues to serve as a key platform for driving technological advancements in the infrastructure sector. By supporting these innovative firms, HS2 is enabling faster, more efficient, and sustainable delivery of major infrastructure projects.
